Patent Award -
Leap in SMBT Research & Innovation Ecosystem
Dr. Yogesh Ushir, Principal of SMBT College of Pharmacy, has conducted research and come up with a pain-relieving gel made from nutmeg in coordination with Dr. Sudarshan Singh of SMBT College of Pharmacy.
The same research work has been recognized by the Government Of India and awarded patent certification.
SMBT will have rights over this patent for the next 20 years. This pain relief gel has proved effective in treating knee pain, joint pain, or body swelling. The research team observed that nutmeg has analgesic properties that can be a panacea for reducing body pain.
Giving more information regarding this gel, Dr. Ushir said that the pain reliever could also act as a booster for other pain relievers. The quality of this drug has also been tested and verified many times.
Later, it was also confirmed that nobody had done such research.
This gel falls under the herbal products category. Many citizens suffer from ailments like knee pain, body swelling, and joint pain due to age. Other pain relievers fail to give results, but citizens now have a better option. Many people have switched to Ayurveda to avoid side effects. This gel could come as a great relief for such patients.
New research on various innovative projects is underway at SMBT College of Pharmacy and Institute of D Pharmacy. This is the first success in this effort. We have a few more projects which might get patents in the days ahead. This pain relief gel will soon be available in the market for general patients at a lesser price than other pain relief gels, said Dr. Yogesh Ushir, Principal of SMBT College of Pharmacy.
